"Chavon was an early entrant in the cigar boom’s Santiago Sweepstakes, the quest to produce the Dominican Republic’s best super premium. As one of the more successful players, commanding $5-$6 per stick, Chavon went confidently head to head with the Partagas, Cohibas, and Montecristos vying for the attention of the up-scale smoker. The superb blend of Piloto Cubano and Dominican Olor long fillers, coupled with the delights of the Sumatra wrapper, made Chavon one of the island’s most in-demand exports. In fact, for the last five years, Chavon found a willing segment of the population to which it delivered a very high level of satisfaction at super premium prices. The demand for the Chavon cigar was so great that the manufacturer was unable to supply them to us in the quantities necessary to feature in our catalog.
